Origin/meaning

The Duchy was one of the Silezian Duchies, formed around the town of Jägerndorf located in the present-day Czech Republic. It existed as an independent territory from 1377-1849, when it was incorporated into Austrian Silezia.

The arms show a hunting horn, a canting element (jäger=hunter). The arms have been used as a symbol for the territory ever since and were part of the large Austrian Imperial arms and are part of the arms of Liechtenstein.
