Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1934 and confirmed in 1970.

The arms are mainly based on the old seal of the city of Blankenberg, which received city rights in 1245. The King on a throne, which was seen in the original seal, was replaced by the arms of the Counts of Berg, as the area historically belonged to Berg. The grape is taken from the old seal of the village of Geistingen.
