Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and granted in 1929.

The arms show a salt-hook, a tool used in salt mining, which has been used for many centuries in the local salt mines. The town is a health resort and spa since 1826 and the snake is used as a symbol for the healing properties of the local salt water.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
