Origin/meaning

The shape of the shield is they type used by the Dayak people of Borneo, where the diocese is situated. The cross indicates that the church has to grow within the Dayak culture. The colours and decorations are Dayak items, the A and Ω, mitre and crosier are Christian symbols.

The motto indicates that the bishop wants to bring joy and happiness to the Dayak people.
