Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 1, 1979.
In 1903, the Veitsberg church in the municipality was destroyed for reasons of mining. One of the few relics is a wooden bench, which stood in the vestry originally. The arms display a design cut into the bench. Traditionally, this design is understood to be a calendar (seasons, months and weeks, i.e. Sundays).
