1ST KING'S DRAGOON GUARDS, BRITISH ARMY
History: Raised 1685 as the Queen's, or 2nd Regiment of Horse, become in 1746 1st King's Dragoon Guards. In 1959 amalgamated with The Queen's Bays (2nd Dragoon Guards), British Army to form 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards, British Army

Double-headed Eagle from the Arms of the late Emperor Francis Joseph I of Austria in silver plate.
Origin/meaning
The badge commemorates the Emperor Francis Joseph (Franz Joseph) I of Austria, who was Colonel-in-Chief 1896-1914. The wearing of the Badge ceased in 1915 and was reinstated in 1937.
