ÅNGERMANLAND

Angerman.jpg

Official blazon

I blått fält tre bjälkvis ställda laxar av silver över varandra, den mellersta vänstervänd, samtliga med röd beväring.

Origin/meaning

Ångermanland was represented in the procession at Gustav Vasas funeral 1560 with arms showing a salmon jumping over a fishing net. Under John III's time it was changed to three salmon, but there is also a variant with three salmon and the net.

In 1885 the arms with the three salmon were officially described.
