UNTERVAZ

Canton : Graubünden

Untervaz.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the village. The ibex in the arms is the symbol of one of the three former territories (Bunden) in Graubünden, the Gotteshausbund. The grill is the symbol of St. Lawrence, patron saint of the village since medieval times. The old seal showed the two elements in separate fields, but these were combined in a single composition in the arms.
