Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a shield shape 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width blazoned: “Per bend Sable and Argent, emitting from a cloud form in dexter chief Proper, a lightning flash Or edged with a narrow White border” all within a diminished border of the first. Attached in base a White scroll inscribed “JOHNSONVILLE” in Black letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A gold color base-metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height blazoned: “Per pall reversed, Argent over Sable, a lyre in dexter chief and a winged foot in sinister chief divided by a lamp in base all base metal Or”. Attached below, a Black scroll inscribed “JOHNSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL” in base-metal gold letters.


Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Gold and black are the school colors. The “FLASHES” draws its name from the lightning flashes on the school seal, which indicates the cadets enlightened attitude in accomplishing scholarship, sportsmanship and citizenship.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Gold and black are the school colors. The “FLASHES” draws its name from the lightning flashes on the school seal, which indicates the cadets enlightened attitude in accomplishing scholarship, sportsmanship and citizenship. The lamp of knowledge, the winged foot and the lyre further symbolizes these things.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and the Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 26 March 2003.
