Origin/meaning
The Roman Numeral IX (9) alludes to the Regiment's position in the Indian Infantry order of precedence in 1920. The Bugle symbolises the Light Infantry origins. The Lion Capital of Ashoka did after Indian Independence replace the Royal Crown on Badges and Rank Insignia.
