Official blazon
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: A shield blazoned: Per fess dancetty of two enhanced per chief Argent and Tenné a bald eagle stooping proper, within a diminished 1/8 inch (.32 cm) border Azure. Attached above the shield a White scroll edged with a narrow Blue border and inscribed “WAR EAGLE” in Blue letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in diameter consisting of a light blue disc surrounded by a blue circular designation band inscribed “MOVING TOWARD EXCELLENCE” arcing at top in silver letters: overall the front view of a silver steam locomotive detailed blue.
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Orange, blue and white are the school colors. The shield divided dancetty resembles the letter “W” suggesting the name of the school. The bald eagle reflects the school mascot, a war eagle.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: White and blue are the school colors. The locomotive symbolizes the origin of Waynesboro as a railroad stop and reflects the cadets’ proud tradition of serving school, community and country.
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 8 May 1997.
