The arms show the local church as a canting symbol, surrounded by an abbott's stick and the wheel of [[mainzMainz]]. The monastery in [[amorbachAmorbach]] owned much of the land in the village from the 12<sup>th</sup> century until 1803, when all the wordly possessions of the clergy were dismantled. Kirchzell was part of the Amt Wildenberg of the state of Mainz (governed by the Prince-Bishops), since the 13<sup>th</sup> century. As no seals of older arms of the town were known, the arms were devised in 1964.
