Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 1, 1964.

The arms show the local church as a canting symbol, surrounded by an abbot's stick and the wheel of the State of Mainz. The monastery in Amorbach owned much of the land in the village from the 12^th century until 1803, when all the wordly possessions of the clergy were dismantled. Kirchzell was part of the Amt Wildenberg of the state of Mainz (governed by the Prince-Bishops), since the 13^th century. As no seals of older arms of the town were known, the arms were devised in 1964.
