Previous arms:

Official blazon
English (personal arms) Sinister: Vert, on a chevron or, three cinquefoils pierced gules. Motto: Quis ut Deus? (Who is like unto God?)

Origin/meaning

As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The green field with three cinquefoils on a gold chevron are the arms of a Curley family of Ireland and are used here to symbolise the last name of the bishop.

The motto : Quis ut Deus? which means "Who is like unto God?" is Latin for the Hebrew Mi-cha-el, the name of St. Michael the Archangel, the baptismal patron of the Archbishop.
