Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 15, 1997.
Beeskow received city rights in the late 13th century from the Lords of Strele. In 1477 it became a possession of the Lords of Bieberstein and from 1512-1518 it was part of Sachsen. From 1555 it was part of Brandenburg.
The oldest seal of the city dates from around 1300 and shows a city wall with in the gate a knight with the arms of the Lords of Strele, three knives. The present arms show a façade of a church with the arms of Strehla and Bieberstein, and thus date from the late 15th century.
