FRANKENHEIM/RHÖN
State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Schmalkalden-Meiningen
German |
Silbern mit rotem, dreifach gezacktem Schildhaupt; auf einem grünen, mit gekreuzten goldenen Schlüssel und Schwert belegten Berg drei grüne Fichten. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 19, 2000.
The red and silver points are the historical arms of the Franken region and thus are a canting element. They also refer to the historical ties to Franken. The trees on the hill simply refer to the geographical conditions, the area is hilly and heavily forested with pine and spruce (unlike most of Thuringia, which is planted with oak and beech). They also refer to the Biosphere Conservation Area of the Rhön.
The crossed sword and key are the symbols of St. Paul and St. Peter respectively, the patron saints of the local church.
