Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 11, 1981.

The upper half is identical to the arms of the Schwalm-Eder district and is based on the arms of Hessen. The wavy bar is the Schwalm river that flows through the municipality. The base shows a linden branch with 8 leaves. The linden is a common tree and the leaves represent the 8 former municipalities that merged in the 1970s.
