MEHLINGEN

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Kaiserslautern
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Enkenbach-Alsenborn
Additions : 1939 Neukirchen (Mehlingen); 1969 Baalborn

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms (above right) were granted on November 14, 1969 and are identical to the previous arms, granted on March 7, 1935.

The arms are taken from a seal for the village taken from 1736. The man is derived from the crest of the arms of the Kolb von Wartenberg family. The stick is a canting element (Kolb) for the family.

Before 1935 the village already used the same arms, but in different colours. When the arms were granted in 1935, there was a lot of discussion on the colour of the stick, which traditionally was used in red, see above left, but it was granted in silver.
