The silver bend is taken from the medieval Vögte von Hattingen, combined with a star taken from the arms of the Lords von Hewen, to whom the village belonged until 1639.

The only known seal dates from the 19<sup>th</sup> century and shows St. Sebastian, based on the arms of the former Amtenhausen monastery in the village.
