The oldest name of the village was Perricbeci, which was mentioned in 820. This was supposed to mean stream-of-sheep. Hence the sheep and the wavy bar in the arms. The sheep also symbolises the Persebecker Heide, Menglinghauser Heide and Hegemanns Heide. The bar also refers to the Hövelbach and the Grotenbach rivers in the area. | |||
