The arms are based on the arms of the Lords of Ebbs, who played a major role in the development of the village, which, until 1863, was known as Ebbsberg. The Blue and silver diamonds are the arms of [[Bayern|Bavaria]], as the 12 oldest farms used to be a Bavarian possession until 1504. The farms were already mentioned in 1240.
