HOOF

State: Saarland
District (Kreis): Sankt Wendel
Incorporated into: 1974 Sankt Wendel

Wappen von Hoof/Arms (crest) of Hoof
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 14, 1967.

The upper part shows the lion of the arms of the medieval Lords of Hoof. As no colours were known, the colours of Bayern were chosen, as the area was a longtime part of the Pfalz. The Pfalz was ruled by the Kings of Bayern.

The base shows the three hills in the municipality, the Etzenberg, Baumbusch and Krähenberg.
