The arms show in the upper part an orb and in the lower the wheel of the [[Mainz (State)|State of Mainz]], as the village historically belonged to the chapter of St. Stephen in Mainz. The oldest known seal of the village is known since 1580 and shows the stoning of St. Stephen, with below him a round weight (Sester) and a hook. The Sester is often shown as a circle with a horizontal bar. Together with the hook this probably was interpreted as an orb in later images.

German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were not officially granted.

The arms show in the upper part an orb and in the lower the wheel of the State of Mainz, as the village historically belonged to the chapter of St.

Already on the second seal, known since 1620, the wheel of Mainz appears as the main symbol instead of St. Stephen and the Sester and hook already look like an orb. A decorated stone on the local town hall shoes the arms first with an orb and the wheel of Mainz with 8 spokes. Later the wheel was changed to a wheel with six spokes.

At present the municipality uses the arms in the colours as shown above, with a silver bar. Previously the arms as below, with the orb in gold.
