WIEN-HUNDSTURM
State : Wien (Vienna)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The name was taken from a "Schloß Hundsturm" (Castle Tower-of-Dogs), built in the 17th century. This castle originated in a "Rüdenhaus", a kennel of hunting dogs of the Emperor. The arms may well be canting, since they were designed after a seal from the 19th century. The original seal is not very precisely executed, however, and its impressions are not very good, either. Possibly, the unicorn was originally meant to be a dog.
This region is now part of the 5th municipal district, Margareten.
