Bishop of Anápolis, 1978-2004

Arms (crest) of Manuel Pestana Filho

Origin/meaning

The silver shield with the red bars is taken from the arms of the Pestana family. Over all is a fleur-de-lys, of which the vertical part is replaced by a cross. The cross is an obvious Christian symbol. The fleur-de-lys is a common symbol for St. Mary.
