MIDTRE GAULDAL

Province : Trøndelag (until 2018 Sør-Trøndelag)
Additions: 1964 Budal, Singsås, Soknedal, Støren

Coat of arms (crest) of Midtre Gauldal
Official blazon
Norwegian I grønt tre sølv kors samlet i form av et gaffelkors.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 17, 1982.

The crossed Y has several meanings. First it symbolises the landscape, which is based of three main valleys and many small, Y-shaped, valleys entering the main valley. Furthermore in the municipality is a major Y-shaped road- and railway junction. Finally the Budal church, dating from 1745 is one of the oldest and one of the few Y-shaped churches in the country.
