Origin/meaning

Mariavall Abbey has its origins in the Sisterhood of Mary, Mother of Jesus, a community that was formed in 1957 by Magda Wollter and other women within the Church of Sweden. In 1983 the nuns became Catholic and in 2007 it became an Abbey.
