Origin/meaningThe arms were devised in 1947 as a design for the new sports uniforms of the local school sport movement. The tower is a symbol for the two historical towers in the city and the base of the arms symbolises the nature in the area. The tower has a stork's nest, as, at the time, storks had nested on the tower for more as a century. The oldest medieval seals of the city showed the eagle of Brandenburg above some hills.
