Unter goldenem Schildhaupt, darin eine liegende schwarze Hirschstange, in Rot zwei schräggekreuzte, mit dem Blatt nach oben gekehrte goldene Spaten (Schoren).

Origin/meaning

Schorndorf was founded around 1250 by the Counts of Württemberg and the city was fortified around 1290. The oldest seal is known since 1293 and until the late 18^th century all seals show the two crossed spades. The spades (Schoren) are a canting element. The chief with the deer antler of Württemberg appears for the first time in the late 13^th century, but was removed from 1312-the late 16^th century when the city was a possession of Esslingen. The colours are known since 1535.
