RETTENBERG
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Oberallgäu
Additions : 1978 Untermaiselstein, Vorderburg
German | Zinnenförmig geteilt von Silber und Rot; oben ein schwebender roter Fünfberg, unten übereinander zwei silberne Eisenhüte.
Origin/meaningThe arms were granted on April 27, 1984. The division symbolises the merger of the two municipalities Vorderburg and Untermeiselstein into Rettenberg. The division line symbolises the old castle of the Lords of Rettenberg, who became extinct in 1350. The colours are derived from the arms of the diocese and State of Augsburg, to which the area historically belonged. The two helmets are a symbol of the power with which the local population fought the different rulers in the area.
