German	Origin/meaning The arms were granted on March 4, 1960. The arms are taken from the old seal of Otterbach and Sambach from 1559, which showed an otter, fish and an otter. The fish and the bar were taken from this seal. The squirrel was added as a symbol for the Otterbach Abbey, which had many possessions in the village. The bar from the seal was placed as a pale in the new arms, identical to the pale in the arms of the Counts von der Leyen, who owned the estate from 1656.
