Origin/meaning

The arms refer to the Chapter/Convent of Bouxières-aux-Dames to whuch the village historically belonged. Being a female organisation, the arms of the canonesses were always diamond shaped, hence the blue diamond in the shield. The two crosiers also refer to the chapter. The boat on the river symbolizes the right given by King Charles III to the canonesses to establish a ferry on the Moselle.
