Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 15, 1935.
The arms show the head of the lion of Hessen, as the area historically belonged to Hessen. The city of Biedenkopf was also founded by the Counts of Hessen and became the capital of one of the districts of Hessen in 1650. The head was chosen instead of the whole lion as a canting symbol (Kopf=head).
