Origin/meaning

The above arms were granted in 1905 and are based on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the late 15^th century. All later seals show the same a city view. In 1905 a small shield with the arms of the Lords of Homburg was added. They had their castle in the city in the 13th and 14th centuries.
