Origin/meaning

The arms show the wolf of Passau, as the town was ruled by the Bishops of Passau until 1806. To distinguish the arms from the arms of Passau, the lion was facing left. The arms are known from the end of the 18th century, but are probably older. The arms thus have never changed.
