Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 22, 1958.

The arms show the Scheidterbach river ans a cogwheel for the local hammer- and oil-mills. The three spokes refer to the three villages in the municipality, Scheidt, Neuscheidt and Scheidterberg. The base shows three diamonds, that refer to the agate-polishing factory in the municipality.
