Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 23, 1945. The Crown symbolises Queen Frederika Dorotea Vilhelmina, wife of King Gustaf IV Adolf, for which Dorotea was named.
The Bear symbolises that in 1945 when the Arms was approved, Dorotea housed the largest Bear Population in Sweden.

Literature: Nevéus and de Waern, 1992
