Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a vertical white rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border an orange tiger head detailed black and white. Attached above the rectangle a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border inscribed “BELAIRE” in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. Attached below the rectangle a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) orange border, inscribed “BENGALS” in white letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, blazoned as follows: Argent, two flaunches wavy Azure; overall a tiger rampant Tenné garnished of the first. Attached below the shield a scroll of the second inscribed “BELAIRE” in Silver letters.
Origin/meaning
Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Blue, orange and white are the school colors. The Bengal Tiger is the school mascot. The blue also alludes to the Mississippi River, indicating the school’s home area.
Shoulder Loop Insignia: Orange, blue and white are the school colors; and the Bengal Tiger is the school mascot. The flaunches represent the Mississippi River, suggesting the school’s home area.
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 14 Septmeber 1988.
