Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 10, 1983.
The lamp is a canting element. The area historically was a possession of the Saint Matthias Abbey in Trier, hence the crossed crosier and axe taken from the seal of the Abbey, and the cross of the State of Trier in chief.
