Origin/meaning

The municipality never had its own arms. The arms above are the arms as used now by the city of Hofheim for Marxheim.

In 1956 the arms below were proposed, but not adopted.

Wappen von Marxheim (Hofheim am Taunus)/Arms (crest) of Marxheim (Hofheim am Taunus)

The oldest known village seal, dating from 1543, shows the upper half of a knight, holding a cross. The origin of the knight is not clear, it may be the local parish saint, St. George, or it is derived from the seal of the Frankish Lord Marbod, after which the village supposedly was named. As the latter died many centuries before the use of heraldic shields, this explanation is unlikely.
