Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 27, 1987.
The arms show three salmon, as the salmon has historically been of great importance to the local economy. First the salmon was the traditional fish for consumption, later it provided income by fisherman paying for fishing rights, and at present salmon farming is of great importance.
