In Blau ein gekrönter goldener Löwe mit roter Zunge und Bewehrung.
Origin/meaning
The arms are already used on the oldest seal of the city, known since 1350. The lion is the lion of the Counts of Schwarzburg, who granted the city rights in 1326 and ruled the city until 1918.
