The bishop's mitre is an attribute of St. Nicholas, the patron of the local church. The golden lily is a reference to the historical owners of a part of the town, the [[Creating Order of the Canons Regular of Premontre; Norbertines (Premonstratensians)|Premonstratensians]], as is the case with the arms of [[Litomyšl]]. The blue bar in a silver base represents the river Loučná which runs through the municipality.
