Official blazon

Shield: Buff, on a pale Celeste a double-warded key palewise wards to base Argent between in chief two buffalo heads addorsed of the like armedanf garnished of the field, overall a fountain at fess point.
Crest: That for regiments and separate battalions of the North Dakota Army National Guard; From a wreath of the colors Argent and Buff a sheaf of three arrows Argent armed and flighted Gules behind a string bow fesswise Or with grip of the second.
Motto: Strength, Spirit, Service.

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall, consisting of a disc wavy of six, blue and silver, upon an atique key, wards down, and on each side of the bow the head of a bison, all silver, facing to dexter and sinister, all above a buff motto scroll inscribed "STRENGTH SPIRIT SERVICE" in silver letters.

Origin/meaning

Buff and Blue symbolises the Quartermaster origin of the Battalion. The Fountain alludes to the former mission to store and supply water. It also symbolises Devils Lake indicationg the location of the Unit. The Bisons represents the Plains Indians of the Region. The Key symbolises distribution and storage.

The arms were approved for the 136th Quartermaster Battalion on 10 December 1996. It was redesignated effective 1 September 2008, for the 136th Support Battalion with symbolism revised. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 136th Quartermaster Battalion on 14 January 1992. It was redesignated effective 1 September 2008, for the 136th Support Battalion with symbolism updated.
