Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18cm) in height overall, consisting of a gold colored Phoenix with scarlet flames beneath a gold globe, all in front of a blue tower with five embattlements. Attached below the device is a gold colored metal scroll inscribed "SHALL DO" in red letters
Origin/meaning
Coat of Arms: Blue and scarlet are the colors associated with Adjutant General organizations. The Phoenix, a symbol of perpetual renewal, reflects the battalion's function in Vietnam of processing between 18,000 and 30,000 troop replacements per month. Yellow and red are the colors of the Vietnam flag and also denote the unit's wartime service. The globe suggests the world-wide effects of the unit; the embattled chief alludes to defense and stands for the various personnel functions of the battalion's mission of support to the soldier.

The coat of arms was approved on 28 March 1994. The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 22d Replacement battalion on 28 July 1966. It was redesignated for the 22d Personnel and Administration Battalion with symbolism revised on 17 June 1980. On 20 September 1994 the insignia was redesignated for the 22d Personnel Service Battalion with description and symbolism revised.
