Brick red and golden yellow are the colors traditionally associated with Transportation units. The Wheel symbolizes the Battalion's basic mission of transportation. The Gauntlet is adapted from the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the 48th Infantry Division, and is indicative of the Historical conection to the Division. It also denotes the unit's vigilance to engage in any audacious task. The dancetté symbolises the Lower Peninsula and the Hills of Southern Michigan, the Battalion's Home Area.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 17 April 2008.
