History:Constituted as 451 Bombardment Squadron, Medium, on 19 January 1942. Activated on 17 July 1942. Inactivated on 11 December 1945. Redesignated as 451 Bombardment Squadron, Light, on 3 July 1947. Activated in the Reserve on 9 August 1947. Inactivated on 27 June 1949. Redesignated as 451 Fighter-Day Squadron on 24 March 1954. Activated on 1 July 1954. Inactivated on 18 November 1957. Redesignated as 451 Flying Training Squadron on 28 July 1972. Activated on 1 April 1973. Inactivated on 15 January 1992. Activated on 2 October 2009. Not operational, July-August 1942. Trained for combat, 1942-1943. Combat in the European Theater of Operations (ETO), 17 July 1943-24 April 1945. Transferred aircraft and crews to other units, May 1945. Engaged in disarmament of the German Air Force, July-September 1945. Served in the organized Reserve, 1947-1949. Performed tactical operations as part of Tactical Air Command, 1954-1957. Provided Undergraduate Navigator Training (UNT), 1973-1992.
