Official blazon

Shield: Argent, a chevron Gules, surmounted by a pale Buff charged with a bayonet erect Proper, between in chief a wheel Gris and two keys in saltire, wards upward and outward, of the last superimposed with a pellet, six mullets, three and three Argent, on a chief Azure a stylized mountain range Buff.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the North Carolina Army National Guard: From a wreath Argent and Gules, a hornet's nest hanging from a bough beset with 13 hornets all Proper.
Motto: Cutting edge.

Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Gris, on a chevron Gules, surmounted by a pale Buff charged with a bayonet erect Proper, between in chief a wheel of the first and two keys in saltire of the last superimposed with a pellet, six mullets, three and three, Gris; on a chief Azure, a stylized mountain range Buff. Attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed "CUTTING EDGE" in Silver.

Origin/meaning

Red and Buff are the Colours of Support Units. The Chevron symbolises support. The Stars symbolises the Battalion's Command and Control responsibilites. The Wheel denotes Transportation, the Pellet Ordnance, The Keys the Quartermaster Function. The Bayonet indicates Military strength. The Mountain Range alludes to the Home Station near the Bule Ridge Mountains in northern North Carolina.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 21 June 2007.
