Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Red and black are the school’s colors. The red saltire alludes to the state flag and denotes the school’s location. The four stars represent scholarship, service, spirit, and success, toward which the cadets strive.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: The school’s heritage is represented by the gear cog and plow suggesting the mechanical and agricultural aspects of the institution’s beginnings. The sword represents leadership as inspired by the ROTC program.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 5 January 1994. Literature: Image and Information from The Institute of Heraldry, US Army.
