Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 23, 1957.

The crossed sword and key are the symbols of the local patron saints of Aldekerk, St. Paul and St. Peter. The hook in the upper half is the symbol of St. Thomas, patron siant of Stenden. The Gueldrian Rose in the base is the old symbol of the Duchy of Geldern, to which the area belonged.
